Film Review -- Beowulf (PG-13)

Holy hell. This movie was straight up ridiculous. I must admit that I was the biggest skeptic of them all going into this film and if you are like me, and you saw The Polar Express and thought it was some bull, get over it and see Beowulf.

From the get go, it was hard to believe the animation in this film. Granted I saw it on the new Digital 3-D that is at nearly all new large movie theaters, I still believe that the 35mm version would also be great. The animation was just stellar. ImageMovers have taken film animation to a new level. The drops of blood, fire and facial features were honestly more clear than real life. It was beautiful.

The story is of one, great man -- Beowulf (Ray Winstone). I believe every kid is forced to read this epic poem at some point in their lives but skip that nonsense and just see the bet action movie of 2007. Yes I said it. Transformers take a back seat (a VERY close back seat).

I honestly will leave it at that because I have no interest in giving away any plot detail. But film buffs do not fret, this action movie follows a fantastic three act story structure and is filled with planned payoffs, character development and the likes. Robert Zemeckis has made a gem.

P.S. Get ready for near nudity with Grendel's Mother (Angelina Jolie) and a big part for that guy with the red hair from Braveheart (Brendan Gleeson). He is the man.
